The body and sexuality are beautiful and good because God made, designed, and blessed them.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The word of God is the source of all life and existence; it brings order out of chaos and infuses fertility into a vacuum.

"'Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.' I hold a grain of wheat in my hand, it is small, and hard, and narrow, and self-contained, and yet at its heart it speaks the mystery of life ... and that is a powerful thing."

--Michael Card, attributed to his grandfather.

If you believe God is all powerful and that He loves you beyond your comprehension, then how can you allow worry to become part of your worldview? Worry is a euphemism for atheism. If God is God, and He is on the throne, and He is your Father, and you are His beloved child, then He cannot curse you; He can only bless you. What could He do that would not be to provide for you, even through hard times or discipline? God only blesses His elect, and nothing can change that. Stop worrying; He will see you through, for your good and His glory. Period. End of story. Have some faith, and stop worrying!

Mighty to save

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

--Zeph. 3:17
You can't earn grace. It's a unilateral, unearned, undeserved gift from God. Don't try to earn grace ... it's already been given to the point of overflowing.

Be still, and know that I am God. Calm yourself like a baby asleep on its mother. Let the peace of God keep your heart and mind.

I have hidden Your Word in my heart, so that I will not sin against You.

God sins the light into the darkness. God takes the empty void and fills it with life and beauty.

We are but dust into which God has breathed the breath of life ... but someday, we will be infinitely more, when God turns dust into glory.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

--Luke 9:25

On the brink

"Faith and love are apt to be spasmodic in the best minds. Men live on the brink of mysteries and harmonies into which they never enter, and with their hand on the door latch, they die outside."

--Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pleasantly

"... we'd all be better off if we could not stop time but slow it down a little bit, and live the pleasant things more pleasantly ..."

--Richard Ford

By God's grace alone. By God's grace alone. By God's grace alone. By God's grace alone.

God's grace is sufficient for you. In our weakness, His strength is perfected in us. Rejoice in your weakness; that's when God's grace shines brightest.

Every faculty, every crevice of our hearts, every part of our lives, is at your disposal. Captivate our thoughts. Guide our wills. Direct our steps. We trust You for our past, present, and future.
"I, who thought to drown, was caught up into love and taught the whole of life in a new rhythm."

--Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Celebrate beauty and praise God for it. The beauty of the earth and sky. The beauty of life. The beauty of the body. The beauty of the soul. Most of all, the beauty of God, the cross, salvation, and our hope of glory.

Whatever my lot, He has taught me to say, "It is well, it is well, it is well with my soul."

"I must keep alive in my self the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death; I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of my life to press on to that country and to help others do the same."

--C.S. Lewis

"Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation."

--Mark 16:20b, NASB

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Courage

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline."

--2 Tim. 1:7, NIV

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

--Josh. 1:9, NIV

It Started with a Sneeze (Rowan Atkinson)

"No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool."

Beautiful paradoxes

"Our work as God's servants gets validated—or not—in the details. People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we're beaten up, jailed, and mobbed; working hard, working late, working without eating; with pure heart, clear head, steady hand; in gentleness, holiness, and honest love; when we're telling the truth, and when God's showing his power; when we're doing our best setting things right; when we're praised, and when we're blamed; slandered, and honored; true to our word, though distrusted; ignored by the world, but recognized by God; terrifically alive, though rumored to be dead; beaten within an inch of our lives, but refusing to die; immersed in tears, yet always filled with deep joy; living on handouts, yet enriching many; having nothing, having it all."

A sweet scent

"In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.

This is a terrific responsibility. Is anyone competent to take it on? No—but at least we don't take God's Word, water it down, and then take it to the streets to sell it cheap. We stand in Christ's presence when we speak; God looks us in the face. We get what we say straight from God and say it as honestly as we can."
